Many ordinances and resolutions on the agenda

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Yesterday afternoon the LaFollette City Council met for the monthly meeting with an agenda heavy with ordinances and resolutions.

Ordinance 2024-06 amending the LaFollette Fire Departments Title 7 of the City of LaFollette Municipal Code had final reading along with Ordinance 2024-07 amending Title 17 section 114 of the LaFollette Municipal Code limiting garbage pickup to residences and apartment units with no more than two units. Ordinance 2024-08 amending the City of LaFollette Personnel Policy as it pertains to vacation time taken by fire department employees had a final reading. Ordinance 2024-09 amending Title 5 Municipal Finance and Taxation Section 505 had a first reading. The ordinance changes how the city advertises for bids allowing for a wider range of advertising options.   Resolution 2024-12 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in PEP Risk Management Pool (Safety Partners) Loss Control Matching Grant Program, Resolution 2024-13 amending the 2024-25 budget and Resolution 2024-14 providing for in lieu tax payments from LaFollette Utilities were approved.

The police department had two promotions approved beginning with Jennifer Leonard being promoted to a full time police clerk effective Aug. 10 and Isaiah Lawson being promoted to a full time police officer effective Aug. 10.

An event permit for Coolidge Ridge Missionary Baptist Church was approved. The resignation of City Councilman Phillip Farmer was approved. Farmer is expected to run for mayor in November. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/07/2024-6AM)
