Truck fire snuffed out. Large amount of diesel fuel was spilled.

Big rig fire and fuel spill shuts down one lane of I-75 a mile south of Caryville. The car ended up in the median.

It’s a slow process as crews continue working to reopen the other southbound lane of I-75 out of Caryville (UPDATED 0-5/14/2024-3:30PM)

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – An 18-wheeler caught fire and a car wrecked on I-75 south of Caryville at 12:59pm Tuesday. It happened at the top of the hill on the interstate coming south out of Caryville. Expect delays.

Traffic is down to one lane southbound at Mile Marker 133.4. Campbell County EMA is handling the diesel fuel spill.

The Caryville Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire in five minutes. That’s a five minute turn-a-round from answering the page, getting to the scene and putting out the fire from 12:59pm to 1:04pm.
