Emmette Carter Allen, age 79 of Jacksboro, passed away on December 30, 2025, after a brief illness. Carter served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired building contractor. He was a member of Cumberland View Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on his farm tending to his cattle, working his hay fields, and gardening. He also enjoyed fishing, his trips out west, especially to Montana with his friends. Carter loved being with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents George Dewey Allen, Pearl Ayers Allen, and Lillian Shown Allen; his sister Barbara Allen Halstead (Bill); and his brother James Gary Allen.
Carter is survived by his wife of 57 years Geraldine McCreary Allen; sister-in-law Janice Allen of Jacksboro; daughters Vanda Allen Dalton and husband Billy of Jacksboro, Carol Allen Roach and Michael Bailey of Knoxville, and Cindy Allen Hill and Chris Cooper of Jacksboro; son Jason Allen and Louise of Jacksboro; grandchildren Brittney, Marissa, Cara, Sarah, Kaylin, David (Brittany, Duran, Brianna, Haleigh, Owen, and Olivia); great-grandchildren Kylie, Kynlee, Carsyn, Jaxon, Carlie, Kayman, Courtland, Addison, (Grayson, Donny, Hudson, Maevery, Brooks, and Carter); he has several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in Funeral procession for an 11:00 AM graveside at Cumberland View Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Allen officiating
