JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County Commissioners briefly discussed the appointment of a flood control officer for the county after the position was resigned from the county property assessor’s office on state legal advice back in December. Commissioners will likely appoint someone to the position at the February meeting.
Commissioner Rusty Orick brought it up at Monday’s workshop, asking if the commission would need to appoint someone this month to be designated as the official flood control.
County Mayor Jack Lynch said he had spoken to a representative with Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and that his recommendation had been for the local Emergency Management Agency Director to take on the title and duties, which would be Jay Muncy.
“I have not spoken to Jay about it yet, but that was the recommendation,” Lynch said.
Orick said he had spoken with the county commission association and that he was hearing the same thing from them.
“That’s what they recommend, that the local EMA director do it, so I guess, we will appoint someone at next month’s meeting,” Orick said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/13/2026-6AM)
