CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Two people are facing charges after allegedly stealing over $500,000 from a LaFollette woman they were supposed to be caring for.

Jamie Moneyhun, 66, and Jerry Moneyhun, 57, both of Big Stone Gap, VA., were arraigned in criminal court Monday on multiple charges.

The Moneyhuns are charged with two counts of forgery, theft over $250,000, theft over $60,000, financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable person over $250,000 and financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable person over $60,000. They are each free on $5,000 bail.

In May 2020, the couple allegedly helped themselves to the victim’s money by withdrawing funds from her certificates of deposit, the 2022 indictment said.

The first withdrawal was for $289,807.98 in the form of two cashier’s checks.

While at that bank, the duo allegedly forged two $1,000 checks, court records said.

Next, the Moneyhuns went to a different financial institution and allegedly repeated their crime. This time, they withdrew $241,418.40 from a certificate of deposit by using a cashier’s check, court records said.

On Monday, the Moneyhuns also turned themselves in to authorities. They were later released on bail.
