Near the Long Hollow Baptist Church in La Follette
LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting driver license roadside safety
checkpoints, and the next checkpoint is scheduled for Campbell County.
On Friday, Troopers, with other law enforcement agencies, will stage the driver license roadside safety checkpoint on Long Hollow Road at the Long Hollow Baptist Church in La Follette.
Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found these driver license roadside safety checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing driver license laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
Checkpoint information can also be obtained by going to the state’s website. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/21/2025-6AM)
Thank you. Soo many uninsured motorists and way expired tags
It is against state law to have drivers license checkpoints in Tn. Courts have ruled in Tn. Court ruled it is violation of fourth amendment. You do not have to present your license unless suspected of a crime. You are setting State up for lawsuits.
Isn’t this a violation of our Constitutional rights to travel freely. And if we broke no law why do we have to produce our driver’s license then?????
Illegal stop and ID. Unconstitutional.
Howcome you’re advertising checkpoints. They should unannounced like New Mexico does. They set up at an exit so cars leave the Interstate to or roads to take a breathalyzer test. Their troopers, deputy sheriffs and police assign cars en masse to control any people trying to escape. This is crazy to give advance warning.
Making checkpoints public is a legal requirement in many states, stemming from a Supreme Court ruling that allows these stops only if they follow specific procedures. Publicizing the checkpoints serves to deter impaired driving, as it increases the public’s perceived risk of being caught. It also protects citizens’ rights by ensuring the stops are not random or discriminatory.
You can get on the tn.gov website and they tell you every checkpoint there is in all of Tennessee
Notify.e of upcoming road locks please
Thanks for these check points because they reall do need to take unqualified unsafe people off the road .
My brother was taken off the road not because he was not licensed but because of his medical issues he no longer needed to drive.
He was a hazard to himself and others .
It’s not legal as they announce it publicly and get the okay with a place and a Time limit if they do all those things that it is 100% legal to have checkpoints
Well, what about the people who lost their license because of child support and then driving themselves to work is the only way they have to pay for the child and their bills. what should they do then? The court system is a little off if you ask me.
Great job ,yall…be safe. 💙
High five to law enforcement! We all need to show respect and thank those who put their lives on the line to enforce the laws that help keep the rest of us from being victims. Thank you.
So now that everyone knows..what’s the point?? WOW!
It defeats the whole purpose when you advertise the checkpoints and their locations. Anybody breaking the law and driving under the influence is just going to see this and find another way around it. I wouldn’t advertise a checkpoint and I DEFINITELY wouldn’t tell anybody where the specific checkpoint is located. That is stupid and a waste of time for the officers. If people are driving under the influence they DO NOT deserve advanced warning. Let them get caught and go to jail
Your drivers license is a privilege not a right. So you dont have a right to claim that a checkpoint like this is against your rights to drive, because you don’t have a right to drive you have a privilege to drive an automobile on the US roadways by obtaining a valid driver’s license.
