Campbell County hit with damaging wind, heavy rainfall in wee hours of Monday morning

This is a look into Downtown La Follette at 3am Monday.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- Scattered powers outages cropped up as a severe thunderstorm, packing 60-mile per hour winds, rolled through Campbell County from around 2:45am through 3:30am on Monday. At one point, there were 13 different areas experiencing power outages in the LUB system. That totaled upwards of 300 customers.

Power outages range from Caryville to Duff through La Follette and through the valley to Arthur. Davis Chapel appears to be the hardest hit with 136 customers out of power (as of 6:30am).

At 3:55am, a downed power line was reported on far West Ash Street in La Follette. A power pole was said to have snapped in half at about the same time on Woodvine Street near Butter and Egg Road at Jacksboro. Reports of a few scattered trees down across the county are coming in from Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck. “The majority of the problem right now is debris and downed tree limbs,” said Dilbeck.

The report of ponding of water on Davis Chapel Road came in to WLAF at 5:45am Monday. A downed tree on Old Long Hollow Road is being cleared by Campbell Highway crews in the 6am hour.

The storms have passed as colder air moves in on Monday with a mix of snow and rain to go along with falling temperatures. Temps slip into the 30s Monday afternoon on to a low of 24 by daybreak tomorrow. Cold sunshine and 30s are here for Tuesday as a warming trend arrives on Wednesday with 50s.
