Doris Chapman Goins, age 86, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. Doris retired from First Volunteer/Builtwell Bank in 2003 after 43 years of banking. She enjoyed serving in her church, and spending time with her family and friends. Traveling was her favorite activity and she was so happy to have had the opportunity to visit all fifty states.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Elvin Ray Goins, parents, John and Roba Whited Chapman, father and mother-in-law, Emory and Nola Moore Goins, son, Eric Flynn Goins, daughter-in-law, Melissa Miller Goins, granddaughter, Olivia Rachel Goins, and grandson, Elijah Steven Goins.
Doris is survived by daughter, Beverly Goins Boyd and husband Larry Boyd, granddaughters, Elizabeth Boyd Tarver and husband Cameron Tarver, and Isabel Anne Boyd. She is also survived by her sister, Jo Ann Chapman Vaughn, niece, Linda Miller Prim and husband Jason Prim, nephews, David Andrew, Patrick Vaughn and wife Rachel Vaughn, Kenneth Miller, wife Amy Miller and family, great-niece Anna Andrew and infant son, Arthur, and great-nephew Andrew Prim and wife Megan Prim.
A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 2:30 PM, at LaFollette Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Arbo, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, officiating. The family will greet friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Doris will be buried by her husband, Elvin Goins, at Fincastle Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 5:00 pm for the interment.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro building fund.
