Discussion of data centers is Caryville Planning’s lone agenda item

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Town of Caryville Planning Commission met Thursday afternoon with one item for discussion on the agenda.

The item discussed was a zoning ordinance amendment regarding data centers. Two ordinances were presented. Ordinance 2026-04 amends the location of data centers. Ordinance 2026-05 defines a data center. The commission passed Ordinance 2026-04. This ordinance will now go the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen for a vote.

Ordinance 2026-05 was deferred until the next meeting. Some of the members of the planning commission wanted to add more specific stipulations about data centers such as noise level and power consumption. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/03/2026-6AM)
