Dian (Grigsby) Fields, age 83

Mrs. Dian (Grigsby) Fields, age 83, of LaFollette, TN, formerly of Hindman, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Dian began her professional career for the family-owned Thacker-Grigsby Telephone Company in Hindman, KY, where she served as Executive Assistant and Bookkeeper. In the late 1980s, along with her husband, Jim, Dian moved to LaFollette while a new development named Deerfield Resort was being constructed on Norris Lake. In 1995, construction was completed on a new 18-hole golf course named The Greens at Deerfield, where Dian has served as primary bookkeeper for the majority of the family’s operation of the golf course.

At home, Dian truly adored being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness, calm demeanor, and the ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Enos and Janice (Thacker) Grigsby, and sisters, Patricia Waddles and Sandra Kay Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim Fields; daughter, Kelli Fischer and husband, Scott; son, Kevin Fields and wife, Jennifer; beloved grandchildren, Lindsay Cain and husband, Matt, Sydney Byrge and husband, Dylan, Molly Fields, and Jake Fischer and wife, Holly; sister, Janie Hall and husband, Jim; brother, Bill Grigsby and wife, Janet; “Second Son,” Jeffrey Chumley; numerous nieces, nephews, current and former employees, and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dian’s caregiver, Ruby Gunter, for her exceptional care.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home (509 E. Central Ave., LaFollette, TN). Dian will then be transported to Hindman Funeral Services (619 Hindman Bypass, Hindman, KY), where a visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Mike Caudill officiating. Interment will follow at Thacker Cemetery in Leburn, KY.
