PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – A UPS van and Toyota Corolla collided on Howard Baker Highway Tuesday evening injuring both drivers; one fatally.

In the preliminary report from Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Isaac Phillips, it is written that the 2012 Toyota, driven by 43-year old John Anderson of Pioneer, was heading west toward the Scott County line. The mid-size car reportedly crossed the double yellow line colliding with the 2008 van that was traveling east toward I-75.

Anderson died at the scene. The driver of the van, 49-year old Scott Bray of La Follette, was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital. Bray is expected to undergo surgery Wednesday.

Trooper Phillips explains that the van flipped on its side while the car came to an uncontrolled rest in the westbound lane. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The call of the crash came in to E-911 Central Dispatch at 7:14 pm Tuesday evening. Howard Baker Highway (Highway 63) was shutdown for a couple of hours.
