Dena Sue Goodman, age 83 of Jacksboro

Dena Sue Goodman, age 83 of Jacksboro, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at LaFollette Health and Rehab Center. She was born on May 27, 1942. Dena was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was saved at a very young age, and belonged to Vasper Baptist Church for many years. Dena loved working with the youth program and cooking for the members of the church. She was a very strong Christian woman, who prayed for everyone she met. Dena and Paul loved to garden, can, and pickle vegetables. Anyone who visited their home sat down to work on a puzzle, play a game of cards, and enjoyed a homemade meal. Dena loved her family more than anything in this world and would not let you leave her house empty-handed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Lawrence Goodman; infant son; parents Arnold and Mabel Miller Newport; and her siblings Joann Newport Simpson and Eddie Arnold Newport.

Dena is survived by her daughter Debbie Goodman Edmondson and husband Jim; granddaughters Sherry Lynn Clower and husband Chance and Donna Kaye Piontkowski and husband Eric; great-grandchildren Lincoln Clower and Kaydence Clower; sisters Mary Lou Rezac and husband Jim, Betty Godfrey, Irene Taylor, Glenna Waddell, and Sheila Watson and husband Brent; brothers Bobby Newport and wife Becky and Jeff Newport and wife Michelle; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Rick Duncan officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, to go in funeral procession to Cumberland View Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
