‘Deep down I’ll always be a Vol fan’- Coach Taylor Ownbey

The Cougars head coach is a UAB alum, and his former team plays Tennessee on Saturday

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Though born in Tennessee, Campbell County Coach Taylor Ownbey played his high school football in Georgia and his college ball in Alabama. That said, he’s a Tennessee fan through and through. “My mom graduated from UT,” said Coach O.

Ownbey, one of Georgia’s top 100 players at South Forsyth, originally signed to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers, though his football travels eventually took him to UAB. Coach O’s Blazers play his Vols Saturday at Knoxville.

“I’m hoping UAB has a good game. But deep down, I’ll always be a Vol fan. I’m still a winner this time around even if UAB should win,” said the former Blazer. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/19/2025-6AM)
