Third ever built Cracker Barrel was at Caryville Exit 134 off I-75 about where the Tennova Clinic is now

By Charlie Hutson

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Caryville was the third store built, opening in February 1971.

When it first opened, the gas pump attendants wore bib overalls and customers could buy cheese cut off the cheese wheel, and if you guessed the correct weight, it was free.

Cracker Barrel closed the Caryville store in December 1987 and opened the Lake City, now Rocky Top, store in January 1988.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/28/2025-6AM)
