JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- After advertising the position for a new county finance director for a little over two weeks, the county has received 23 applicants for the position. The Campbell County Financial Management System (FMS) Committee met very briefly Monday evening and committee chairman, and county mayor Jack Lynch handed copies of the 23 resumes to FMS committee members.

The committee recessed Monday’s meeting until Wednesday at 6 pm in order to allow the five committee members to narrow the 23 applicants down to five. At Wednesday’s meeting, committee members will discuss their top five applicants each, until it is narrowed down to five total. At that point, the county will request references and degrees from those five applicants.

“We received 23 resumes and had a very good response,” County Mayor Lynch said.

Some of the applicants were local and some were out of the county. According to Lynch, of the 23, more were from out of the county, than in the county.

“Some resumes we received were just one page and some are 10 pages; you’re going to need a few days to look them over,” Mayor Lynch said.

At Wednesday’s meeting, after it is narrowed down to five applicants, those will be “unmasked and at that point, we will ask for references and degrees,” Lynch said.

Monday’s FMS committee meeting was recessed until Wednesday 6 pm at the county courthouse.

The FMS committee met twice in June to start the search for a finance director, after county finance director Jeff Marlow announced his resignation and that his last day will be Sept. 26. That is the last day for the county’s purchasing agent Lisa Bowlin and the county’s budget analyst Richard Terry.

At the June 12, meeting, the FMS committee approved the advertisement, as well as the base salary for the position to range between $90,000 and $110,000, with room for negotiation depending upon qualifications, experience and education. Applications were accepted until June 27, 4 pm, at the Campbell County Mayor’s office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/08/2025-6AM)
