CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- We caught up with Campbell County Highway Department crews working around the county on Thursday afternoon. “Even though the first day of winter is Saturday, we’ve already had snow and ice on the higher elevation roads,” said Ron Dilbeck, Campbell County Road Superintendent.

Snow showers can be expected Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Light snow accumulations of a half-inch or less are expected in the lower elevations and 3 to 5 inches possible over the mountains of Campbell County.

Along Davis Chapel Road on Thursday afternoon, Austin Brummitt (above) works traffic control with William Creager (below).

Crews were taking care of some of the county road maintenance issues before the snow begins to fly. Once snow develops this winter, it’ll be all hands on deck to clear the more than 700 miles of county roads.

Freddie Blankenblicker (above and below) operated the backhoe during Thursday’s project.

Kevin Ayers works the brush truck.

The SaltDogg on Austin Brummitt’s truck is ready to go should we see snow on Friday.
