JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Ask any ball player, and they will likely tell you they’d much rather be playing a game than practicing. For the Campbell Cougars and Lady Cougars, this upcoming run of games is a stretch like none before. It’s nine games over 15 days for the Cougars and eight games in 15 days for the Lady Cougars. Now that’s barring any more postponements.
Campbell’s next games are tonight at home with Central on Homecoming night after the Thursday night games at home with Powell were postponed until Thu., Feb. 1.
“Obviously, it will be a tough task ahead, but it is the cards we are dealt. The kids haven’t had any opportunities to be in the gym, so it will be like starting over at the beginning,” said Ernie Clawson, Head Coach of the Cougars.
“We are looking forward to getting back on the court this week. Playing eight games in 15 days sounds rough, but, hopefully we will be OK. For me the worst part about playing so many games is you don’t get much practice time. For the most part every team we play will be in the same situation with making up games,” said Lady Cougar Head Coach Jason Kitts.
The last time Campbell played basketball games was almost three weeks ago on Mon., Jan. 8. It was a home win for the Lady Cougars and loss for the Cougars versus South Doyle.
The next games, after the latest postponement (Thu. vs. Powell-moved to Feb. 1), are set for tonight.
Campbell hosts Central on Friday night, Homecoming, at Brown Gym. The WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network has all the live televised coverage over the WLAF-Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center video player beginning at 6pm. Josh Parker and Clayton Carroll describe the action while Matthew Moore and Aaron Hopkins send you the telecast.
