Wlaf1450Campbell County and Clinton meet on the gridiron for the 45th time Friday night
CLINTON, TN (WLAF)- Take along your rain gear and rally towel as Campbell and Clinton meet up on the gridiron Friday night at the Dragons home field, City Field. The weather calls for a slight chance of a passing shower.
It’s a region game for these old rivals who have played each other 44 times dating back to the Cougars first season in 1975. It may well be the first time these two programs have met when neither is yet to win a game.
“I can tell a difference this week in practice. The players are a bit more revved up heading into this one,” said Campbell Head Coach Taylor Ownbey.
The Cougars are getting some players back from injury or illness this week. Landon Chadwell returns as does Austin Jordan and others, according to Coach O.
The Dragons hold a 33-11 edge though nine of Campbell’s wins have come since 2011. The Cougars first win in the series was 21-2 at Clinton in 1977.
