Cougar Jake Hatmaker named All-Tournament and earns the Mr. Hustle Award

NEW TAZEWELL, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell Cougars made trips to Claiborne High School on Monday, Friday, and Saturday to take part in the Elevation and KOC Invitational.

It was an eight team bracket with your Cougars matching up against the Lakeway Christian Lions on Monday. This game, just like every game the Orange-and-Blue played in the tourney were close, hard-fought scruffles. Unlike the remaining two games however, the Cougars lost this one.

Lakeway got the best of the Cougars 58-50.

Up next for Campbell was the West Greene Buffaloes. The Buffs hail from Mosheim. This was a game that the Cougars narrowly led, or trailed, just about all game. The fourth quarter came around though and the Cougars dominated this period.

Campbell’s fourth quarter run propelled them to a 66-54 victory and clinched them a spot in the third place game.

For game three, your Cougars battled the Hancock County Indians of Sneedville.

In this game, Campbell trailed by as many as nine. However the Cougar’s fight and late rally ended up being good enough for a 63-60 win, and a third place finish in the Claiborne High School tourney.

Up next for Campbell County is a trip down I-75 to exit 122 at Clinton. The Cougars-n-Dragons tip off Tuesday. The JV Lady Cougars and Lady Cougars play first at 4:30, varsity girls at 6, and varsity boys at 7:30.
