Rural Fire Service answers 500 calls a year; is county’s busiest volunteer department

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commissioners donated a portion of their discretionary funds to the Campbell County Rural Fire Service on Tuesday morning. With the increased call volume, and the yearly operational cost also rising, this donation came at a good time for the CCRFS.

“The Campbell County Rural Fire Service is very appreciative of the support of our county commissioners. Our department is responding to 500 calls a year, and with the funding the county gives us, and the donations we get, it is what allows us to respond,” said CCRFS Captain Daniel Lawson.

The Campbell County Rural Fire Service answers around 10 calls a week.

However, it makes it a lot harder with the price of equipment and the amount of calls the CCRFS answers, because money doesn’t go as far as it once did, according to Captain Lawson.

If you would like to donate to the CCRFS, make your check payable to CCRFS. Mail it to CCRFS, P.O. Box 341, La Follete, Tennessee 37766.

“We are the busiest volunteer department in the county, and this check will greatly help our department along with the citizens we serve,” said Lawson. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/30/2025-6AM)
