JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The county commission held its workshop Monday evening, setting agenda items for next week with a resolution establishing “guidelines of contributionsâ€, as well as changes to the county travel policy set for a vote.
A resolution establishing “guidelines regarding the appropriation of contributions by the County Commission for needs that arise throughout the year†will be on the agenda next Monday.
The resolution states that the FY 2024-2025 budget contains $45,000 for non-specific contributions at the discretion of the county commissioners, and that the “allocation of the funds will enable the county to contribute to matters that arise throughout the year without having to find additional funding sources.

If approved, the resolution will split the $45,000 allocation 16 ways with each county commissioner and the county mayor being allocated $2,812.50 to make funding recommendations to the county commission. The resolution also states that “All contributions require the approval of the county commission prior to the contribution being made.â€
The 12th revision to the county’s travel policy will also be voted on next week. Commissioners said they would review what changes had occurred before next week’s meeting.
In other business, a lease agreement for LaFollette Middle School copiers will also be up for approval next week as will the acceptance of the resignation of fifth district constable Gary Jeffers who submitted a letter of resignation stating that he had accepted a job with Homeland Security and that the job would conflict with his duties as constable.
Commissioners asked County Attorney Joe Coker to “check the guidelines on how the position of fifth district constable should be filled†since Jeffers was resigning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-12/10/2024-6AM)
