An issue with a gate blocking a county road was discussed by commissioners on Monday evening. They voted to have the gate removed by the county road superintendent if needed.
Campbell County property owner Elaine Dinicola spoke to commissioners about an issue on Gillis Lane regarding her neighbor putting up a gate across the road at last week’s commission workshop.
At Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved a motion to send a copy of the letter certifying that Gillis Lane is a road, as well as a copy of the Tennessee State Law to the gentleman blocking the road. Commissioners also approved having the Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck remove the gate as is allowed by state law.
“Tennessee Code annotated 54-7, 201 states that the chief administrative officer (county road superintendent) can remove any gate or obstruction blocking any county roads,” said County Attorney Joe Coker.
The issue first arose in March. Dinicola had previously gone to the county planning commission and the county commission, who after checking the county road maps, confirmed the road was a county road. The commission then last month voted to send letters out to all property owners and neighbors in the area ratifying that Gillis Lane is a county road.
At Monday’s commission meeting, Dinicola told WLAF that the gate had already been removed.
