Commissioners discussed several issues that came out of the building and grounds committee. These included the need for EMS living quarters to be renovated, as well as the bathroom and storage area renovations at EMS.
“There’s quite a bit of stuff that needs done; we’re going to do it in phases,†Commissioner Dewayne Gibson said.
Phase one includes the renovation of the living quarters, while phase two includes drywall, and painting in the secretary’s office and phase three is replacing all the roll up doors.
Other building and grounds items that will be voted on at next week’s agenda will be upgrades to Brittany Foust’s office. The work will be done in house.
Another building and grounds resolution regarding the sale of a double wide trailer will be voted on next week as well.
The resolution will set the parameters on the sale of the trailer.
According to Commissioner Rusty Orick, these will include no reserve price and the financial management system is to take sealed bids.
“We need it removed. We had discussed in committee; whoever buys it will have 30 days to have it removed and not make a mess and they have to coordinate with Tony Hill. We’re doing it as a sealed bid,†Orick said.
A Litter Grant to benefit Campbell County’s Litter Program, along with a Homeland Security grant will be on next week’s agenda, as will a Health Department immunization contract.

Campbell County High School Junior and local and regional FFA Officer Isaac Jones addressed the county commission at Monday evening’s workshop. Jones spoke before the commission the first time when he was in the fifth grade and has continued to build his public speaking skills over the years. On Monday, he once again spoke to commissioners to make them aware of the impact of farm and agriculture loss in Campbell County. “Statewide farm loss is a big deal and it’s affecting us right here in Campbell County.” Jones said he is passionate about maintaining farms and agriculture in Campbell County.Â
County Mayor Jack Lynch also brought up that John Branam had moved and therefore stepped down from his position on the Industrial Development Board. Lynch nominated Rob Woodson for that position.Â
According to county commissioners, “Branam came out of the third district, and a third district nomination is going back.â€
Mayor Lynch also recommended Dwight Osborn for the County Equalization Board to replace Larry Nidiffer.
These two appointments will be voted on next week by the commission.
A motion to ask the finance department to help find funds for the Senior Citizens Center will be on the agenda after the issue was brought up by Commissioner Beverly Hall.
“They need help out there, and we need to help them,†Hall said.
