Tabitha Davis was unanimously approved

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commission held a brief special-called meeting on Monday evening to approve the hiring of a new administrative assistant.

It was unanimously approved to hire Tabitha Davis (top photo) upon the recommendation from the insurance and personnel committee.

The commission received 26 applications for the position and out of those 26, the insurance and personnel committee narrowed it down to eight to interview.

According to insurance and personnel committee chair Rusty Orick, two individuals decided not to go through with the interview and one “backed out after the interview” leaving the choice at five applicants.

Orick said the committee “tried to make the whole process as fair as possible.”

Resumes for the position were submitted to County Mayor Jack Lynch’s office. The names and addresses of each applicant were “blotted out” so that insurance and personnel committee members would only see the “education and experience that each candidate brought to the table.”

It was not until it had been narrowed down to the last eight applicants that the committee received the full resume with names and addresses.

“Living in a small town, we want to be as fair as possible with decisions like this,” Orick said.

He also said the number and quality of applicants for the position were amazing and that the “decision was a hard one.”

“It really blew my mind how many great applicants we had for the job, the last four we had it narrowed down to especially, I would recommend any of them for a job; we had some great people interested in the position,” Orick said.

Davis will start immediately in order to be trained by exiting administrative assistant Amanda Grodeman. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/23/2024-6AM)
