The County Commission approved a strategic planning resolution at Monday’s meeting. The resolution asks that multiple county government departments submit a list of goals and priorities to the Legislative Affairs Committee within 30 days.
The overall strategic plan for the county lists six core priorities including quality services, safety, low taxation, economic development, liability and infrastructure.
An increase in pay for planning commission members was voted on Monday evening.
The pay increased from $50 per meeting, to $75 per meeting, with it set at $100 for the chairman and the secretary of the board.
Six commissioners voted yes, while four abstained due to being on the planning commission board.
Commission chairman Johnny Bruce asked County Attorney Joe Coker if that was enough for approval. Coker said to “record the vote” and he would check with the “auditor to make sure” and let the commission know if it needed to be brought back up for another vote.
If this passes, the pay will be increased effectively at the next planning commission meeting.
The motion passed pending confirmation by the county attorney.
An Aging Service Grant Contract between ETHRA and Campbell County for the Campbell County Senior Center was approved as well.
In other business, it was also approved for the county to use $11,500 from the National Security grant for EMS to purchase a generator for the EMS/EMA building.
An EKOS license agreement for the Campbell County Highway Department approved.
A change order was approved for the airport to cover the cost of extra tree removal. ” “That is coming out of the engineer’s part, not the county’s part, it’s of no extra cost to the county,” commissioner Rusty Orick said.
The third and final evaluation of Commission Assistant Tabitha Davis was also approved by commissioners on Monday evening.
The application for three grants for the sheriff’s department was approved, including a Mental Health Transport grant, a School Resources Officer grant, and an Equipment grant for jail equipment. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/22/2025-6AM)
