City to vote on property condemnation process on Tuesday

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The first regular meeting for the City of La Follette Council and Mayor of 2026 is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30pm, at City Hall.

The only item up for a vote under Administration is about a water tank site project on Victory Road with LaFollette Utilities Board (LUB). LUB’s attorney Reid Troutman spoke to the council at the Dec. 29 workshop explaining an additional 1/3 acre of adjoining property is needed for the project. Troutman reported that he has spoken with the property owner, and it appears they are uninterested in selling any property. Troutman came before the council to make it aware the next step in trying to acquire the needed property would be condemnation. Troutman explained that he was waiting for an appraisal of the property and would make another offer before moving toward condemnation.
