LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Yesterday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council approved for the LaFollette Utilities Board (LUB) to move forward with the condemnation process of property located on Victory Cross Road.

LUB’s attorney Reid Troutman spoke to the council at last week’s workshop explaining an additional 1/3 acre of adjoining property is needed for a water tank improvement project at Victory. Troutman reported that he has spoken with the property owner, and it appears they are uninterested in selling any property. At the workshop, Troutman reported that he was waiting for an appraisal of the property and would make another offer before moving toward condemnation.

Two items were approved at Tuesday afternoon’s meeting. The first was Ordinance 2026-01 abandoning a portion of West Kentucky Avenue within the corporate city limits of LaFollette. The second was Resolution 2026-01 amending the 2025/26 budget. This resolution will include two incoming grants from the LaFollette Medical Foundation and the purchase of a garage door for the police department bay. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/07/2026-6AM)
