CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)-  Teachers make a difference in their students’ lives every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard-working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Chelcie Davis. She teaches seventh grade Science at LaFollette Middle School and has been an educator for nine years.

Chelcie Davis is Eagle Tire Pros Teacher of the Week. She teaches seventh grade science at LaFollette Middle School.

Davis is from Anderson County, “Clinton to be more specific”, and attended schools in Anderson County including Norris Elementary, Norris Middle, and Anderson County High School.

She attended college for a year and a half at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, before coming back home and attending Roane State Community College and Tennesse Tech.

When not teaching, Davis likes to spend time with her family.

“I’m a homebody and like to be at home with my husband Jonathan and our two dogs, Ellie and Zoie. If we’re not at home and are able, Jonathan and I would much rather be at Disney World – it’s one of our favorite places. I also like almost any kind of music and food, but I want someone else to do the cooking and cleaning after,” Davis said.

She currently teaches seventh grade science at LaFollette Middle School.

“This is my ninth-year teaching overall, my seventh year at LMS and in the Campbell County School System. I’ve previously taught sixth and seventh grade math before making the switch to science full time this school year,” Davis said.

She started her teaching career teaching seventh grade math at Clinton Middle and then eighth grade science at Norris Middle.

Davis did not initially attend school to be an educator, instead she was pursuing a law degree.

“I originally went to UTC and majored in law. Took some classes and while they were interesting, didn’t feel like a good fit. Teaching was something that was always a small thought in the back of my mind, so I took some time to really consider it as a possibility. I’ve always enjoyed working with younger kids and helping them make sense of whatever,” Davis said.

Her favorite part about teaching is the relationships that she has with her students, past and present.

“Middle school is a rough time and being able to build relationships and trust with students is very special. I have past students who still contact me for advice, help, or even just to say hello,” Davis said.

She said many of her own educators, as well as co-workers, and administrators have influenced her as an educator.

“I have had many teachers from elementary school through the college level and even coworkers and administration that have inspired me as a teacher as well as a person. I do not think I would have enough time and space to list everyone and everything that they have done for me as an educator or in my life.”

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
