Charles Glenn Carden

Charles Glenn Carden, born on March 26, 1934, to the late James and Edna Viles Carden, passed away on July 22, 2026, in Powell, TN.

At the age of 16, Glenn joined the U.S. Army and served honorably before being discharged. Following his military service, he worked as a tax assessor for the U.S. government, a career that allowed him to live in various locations. Glenn was a founding member of Stercchi Church and served faithfully as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Braves baseball, and cheering for UT sports.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rubye Henley Carden; brothers Claude, Roy, Elmo, Carl, Ralph, Lawrence, and Gerald; sisters Alene Bradley, Grace Rogers, Carrie Myers, and Lassie Massengill; and stepdaughter Diane Whited.

He is survived by his children: Debra (Frank) Cusmano of Michigan; Sheryl Davis of Kentucky; and James Michael Carden of Michigan. He also leaves behind grandchildren Michael Sparks of Tennessee and Nicholas Cusmano of Michigan. Glenn is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as his best friend and loyal companion, Ray Cooper. He will be fondly remembered by his close neighbors and many friends within the church community.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Glenn’s memory. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Visitation: 5:00PM-7:00PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home chapel in Lake City.

Funeral Service: 7:00PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joel Dew officiating.

Interment: Family and friends will meet at 10:15AM, on Sunday, July 26. 2026, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home chapel to go in procession to Leach Cemetery in Lake City, Tennessee for an 11AM graveside service
