The Honorable Charles A. Herman, age 79 of Jacksboro, TN passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026.  Judge Herman was born and raised in Asheville, NC and was a graduate of Asheville Catholic High School and a United States Army Veteran.  He attended East Carolina University, and the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree (J.D.).   Judge Herman served as Campbell County General Sessions Court Judge from 1976 to 1990, and at that time was the youngest serving General Sessions Judge in Tennessee.  Throughout his legal career, Judge Herman also served as Jellico City Judge, Assistant Public Defender, and Grand Jury Foreman for many years.  He was a devoted Member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and faithfully volunteered his time and resources with Food Life Services of Campbell County.  He was an avid New York Yankees and Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoyed board games, collecting cards and Coca-Cola memorabilia, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Herman in 2014, and Parents, Albert Bernard and Blanche (Grant) Herman. 

He is survived by his daughters, Christie Muse and husband, Joe, and Angela Martin and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Maddie and Mollie Kate Muse, and Sophia and Jacob Martin; Sister, Carol Tarleton and husband, Bob; nephew, Brian Tarleton and wife, Melanie; several other relatives, colleagues, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Sam Sturm officiating.  Interment will follow at Powell Valley Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Honor Guard of Campbell County.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Food Life Services of Campbell County, P. O. Box 802, LaFollette, TN  37766 or Lake City Elementary School Food Pantry, 402 Lindsay Avenue, Rocky Top, TN  37769.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Honorable Charles A.
