Last weekend, LMS’s Channing Dotson had a personal best in the two-mile run

KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF)- On Saturday, LaFollette Middle School sixth grader Channing Dotson competed in the Tennessee State Cross Country Championship held at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville.
Facing a field of 300 runners from across the state, Dotson placed 24th in the sixth-grade division and 162nd overall in an impressive finish that marked a personal milestone.
Dotson completed the two-mile course in 13 minutes and 35 seconds, setting a new personal record. This event marked his second appearance at the state level, underscoring his growing experience and dedication to the sport.

In an interview with WLAF, Channing’s father, Jason Dotson, expressed heartfelt pride in his son’s performance. “Our family is extremely blessed to live in a community where Channing can display his talents, and his accomplishments are celebrated,” he said. Jason also shared his hopes for Channing’s future, noting that with continued hard work, his son could qualify for nationals by eighth grade and potentially run his way into college.
