Chambers resignation as Caryville mayor expected to be accepted

Vice Mayor Beth Lawson is filling the mayoral vacancy

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meets tonight. That’s at six o’clock at the Caryville Municipal Building.

The first item on the agenda is to accept the resignation of former Mayor David Chambers. Chambers submitted his resignation on Nov. 17. Upon Chambers resignation, Vice Mayor Beth Lawson moved into the position of mayor leaving her aldermen seat vacant. Tonight, the board will discuss filling her open seat.

The board will vote on a second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-10 amending the general fund annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $2,900 for Christmas bonuses. An invoice from Ray Varner Ford for $5,056.30 to repair the 2017 F-250 for the street and sanitation department is on the agenda for approval.

A first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-11 amending the general fund annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $6,000 for public works equipment repair and maintenance.

The board will have a first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-12 amending the zoning map of the Town of Caryville by changing the zoning for property on Bruce Gap Road from R-1 low density residential to R-2 medium density residential.
