Students compete in 2024 Builders Exchange of Tennessee Construction Trades Competition

Local construction and building and trade students from Campbell and Jellico High Schools participated in the 2024 Builders Exchange of Tennessee competition held Nov. 14th at Knoxville, with CCHS coming in 4th place. CCHS students are pictured in blue, while Jellico students are wearing pink.

KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County High School and Jellico High School students competed in the 2024 Builders Exchange of Tennessee (BXTN) Construction Trades Competition on Nov. 14th.  Campbell County High School Construction Students finished 4th place in the competition.

The 2024 Builders Exchange of Tennessee (BXTN) Construction Trades Competition was held at the Jacobs Building in Knoxville. CCHS competed with a 5-man crew against 9-man teams, “showing incredible skill, teamwork, and resilience, and bringing home an impressive 4th place finish”.

 CCHS’s Construction class is taught by instructor Andy Baird and Jellico’s construction class is taught by Jay Davis. 

During the competition the students had to complete a build from blueprints with no assistance from the teacher. 

Jellico High School took a team of three framers who were paired with a team of electricians and plumbers from other schools. During the competition the students had to complete a build from blueprints with no assistance from the teacher. 

Campbell High’s five-man crew excelled at the competition.

“They learned so much and enjoyed the work experience; these competitions are great confidence builders for the students,” said Jellico CTE Coach Lisa Bolton.
