Town of Caryville Mayor and Aldermen meet in regular monthly meeting

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen had a first reading of Ordinance 2024-09 to update Title 13 of the Town of Caryville Municipal Code on slum clearance and redevelopment act at last night’s monthly meeting. The ordinance defines what a dwelling is and how structures found not meeting the definition will be dealt with by the town. The ordinance discusses the basis for finding structures unfit as well.

Attorney Adam Bullock’s legal service agreement was discussed. Aldermen Vickie Heatherly made a motion to extend the legal service agreement until Dec. 31. The motion passed.

Kaitlyn Knoll was hired as full-time Library Director. She has completed her 90 day probationary period.

Aldermen Lloyd Lawson requested the board suspend the rules to add an item to the agenda. Lawson added discussing Mountain Rd and Tram Rd. Lawson told the board that the roads had a crack in them and the pitch of the road was off.  Lawson was concerned if the issue is not corrected it could cause further damage. The cost of repairing the pavement is around $10,000. The board approved the paving and also to have an engineer come out and check it. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/13/2024-6AM)
