Winners in Christmas Light Contest announced

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- After 34 years of service in law enforcement, Caryville Police Chief Freddie Stagnolia is calling it a career. Stagnolia’s last day of service is Feb. 6. Monday night at the monthly meeting of the Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Mayor Beth Lawson announced Stagnolia’s retirement.

Two items were approved beginning with a second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-11 amending the general fund operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $6,000 for public works equipment repair and maintenance. Next was a first reading of Ordinance No. 2026-01 amending the 2025-26 budget to decrease the general fund and transfer funds to the CDBG and ARPA funds.
Winners of the Christmas Light Contest are first place Jason Tackett on Cotton Lane, second place, Martha and Don Tackett, East Maple Street and third place was Donald Cross at Hilltop Circle.
The last item on the agenda was promoting Justin Painter from a probationary police officer to a full time police officer, the item was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/13/2026-6AM)
