CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in a special called session on Thursday afternoon to discuss Phase 2 of the Caryville Cares Playground. The town received a grant with a match of $77,000 from the town for the project three years ago.
In July, the board voted to include a basketball court, two pickleball courts, picnic shelter, restrooms, two dog parks, tables, benches, landscaping, fencing and lighting around the park. The estimated cost of the park is $827,000 with the town investing $205,000. Â
Yesterday the board agreed to a revised plan that makes the park inclusive. The plan includes hi visibility lines, six foot sidewalks, a water fountain for dogs, a full basketball court with adjustable goals, and dog park gate widths adjusted from four feet to six feet.
The board had to choose something within the plan that could be scaled back or eliminated should the need arise. Alderman Josh Monday made a motion to scale the basketball court from a full sized court to a half court, his motion died for lack of a second. Alderman Eric Jones made a motion to eliminate the dog park should the need arise, this motion passed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/12/2025-6AM)
