Santa Tour set for Sunday, December 22, 1:30pm, through Caryville
CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Three ordinances were on the agenda on Monday night at the monthly meeting of the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Ordinance 2024-13 had a second reading; the ordinance amends the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) annual operating budget in the amount of $11,529.70. Ordinance 2024-14 had a second reading as well. The ordinance amends ordinance 2023-07 as it pertains to refuse and trash disposal. Ordinance 2024-15 had a first reading amending the general fund annual operating budget in the amount of $145 for elections.
Mayor David Chambers updated the board on a building situation on Main Street owned by Joe Arnold. Last month, business owner Kevin Ward spoke to the board about the building that is falling and posing a hazard to his property. Lisa Crumpley, Codes Enforcement, summoned the owner Joe Arnold to court about the situation, but he failed to attend. Reid Troutman advised at last month’s meeting that the case would need to go to a higher court. Crumpley recommended at the time that the town needs to have a demolition order drafted and signed by the chancery judge. Another concern was raised about people staying in the basement of the building which is unsafe. Chambers reported that he had spoken with the town’s attorney Adam Bullock, and he feels that the town is ready to move forward with legal action.
The Santa Tour will be held Dec. 22 at 1:30 p.m.
