Caryville decides on who will be its Town Administrator

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- The search for the Town of Caryville Town Administrator appears to be over. In August, the town voted to establish the position.

The town received resumes through Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) and began first round interviews via Zoom with four candidates in late October and early November. The candidates were narrowed to three with second round interviews in person on Nov. 18 and 19.

Yesterday afternoon the board voted to move forward with the hiring process for the town administrator. Aldermen Josh Monday made the motion to move forward with the process to hire Craig Bennett, Aldermen Vickie Heatherly seconded the motion, all members of the board voted yes. The next step in the process will be to complete background checks and reference checks on Bennett. Once those are completed and satisfactory then the board can send a formal offer letter for the job to Bennett. If Bennett accepts the position, the target date for him to begin work is January 2026.

Since September 2022, Bennett has been a Navy Maritime Operations Center Training and Exercise Team Operations Officer. He is based at Norfolk, Virginia.

The Santa Tour will be held on Sun., Dec. 21, beginning at 2 pm. It will take approximately three hours for the tour to complete its route.

A first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-10 amending the general fund annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the amount of $2,900 for Christmas bonuses was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/26/2025-6AM)
