JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commissioners approve a budget amendment resolution for a $750,000 capital outlay note at Monday’s meeting.

The capital outlay note funds will be used for equipment purchases for the sanitation department, as well as for the replacement of five rooftop HVAC units for the Justice Center, as well as providing additional matching funds for the Dossett Bridge project. The additional matching funds for the bridge project will be combined with funds from the City of LaFollette to clean up contaminated soil so the project can move forward. The soil was contaminated from creosote from the old bridge.

The commission also approved an increase to the pay for county planning commission members to increase from $50 per meeting to $75 per meeting and $100 for the chairman and secretary of that board.

Other business items included the approval for Campbell County to participate in two Opioid lawsuits, as well as for Opioid abatement funds to be distributed.

A lease agreement for the property assessor’s office was approved. Final business on Monday evening was for the declaration of surplus items from the county clerk’s office.

Campbell County Mayor Jack Lynch reminded that the next Veteran’s Breakfast is Sept. 6 and that Camel Manufacturing is the sponsor.

Lynch also announced that the county, the chamber of commerce and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jacksboro were partnering for a Health Care Job Fair on Tuesday Aug. 19 from 9 to noon at TCAT Jacksboro.
