JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell’s Friday home games with Powell are postponed.
The Cougar JVs will not play on Friday as previously scheduled, because of earlier tip times now for the varsity games. The Lady Cougars will now start at 5pm and then the Cougars at 6:30pm. The WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Sports Network has all the live radio, television and internet coverage.
Campbell’s last game was Friday, and Tuesday’s game with Central was postponed. So, it’s just been practice for the last week for the Cougars and Lady Cougars.
“Practice has gone well. We have tried to stay on somewhat of our normal routine, but it’s hard to simulate game speed at practice. This week, we have had a few out sick. So Tuesday’s game with Central being postponed may have helped us in the long run. We hope we can get everyone healthy and ready for Fridays game with Powell,” said Lady Cougar Head Coach Jason Kitts.
The Lady Cougars are 10 & 7 in all games and 6 & 1 in District 3-AAAA games while Powell, the district’s top team, is 15 & 6 with an 8 & 0 district mark. The Lady Cougars fell in the first meeting 42-29 on Tuesday, January 13, on Hunter Court.
“We’ve been adjusting to not having school and still trying to get basketball practice in when possible. Because of slick road conditions, everyone can’t make it, so we haven’t had a full roster at practice. We’re also currently down three players due to injuries. Starter Jack Sexton is out for 10 days, Braxton Fox was injured in practice, and David Smith is out. Additionally, we moved the game with Central to February 12 in accordance with Knox County’s “no school, no play” policy. That is the way it is this time of year, so you have to make accommodations as needed,” said Cougar Head Coach Ernie Clawson.
Overall, the Cougars are 4 & 16 and winless through seven district outings. Campbell is determined to snap its nine game skid. The Powell Panthers are 7 & 13/4 & 4 and won the January 13 match-up 68-43.
