Impressive elementary and middle school math scores across the board; grades 3rd-8th

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Campbell County Schools is proud to announce significant improvements in student proficiency across multiple subjects for the 2023-2024 academic year. These gains reflect our district’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.

Elementary and Middle School Performance:

English Language Arts (ELA):

  • 3rd Grade: Increased from 31.3% to 34.8% (+3.5)
  • 4th Grade: Decreased from 37.5% to 36.5% (-1.0)
  • 5th Grade: Increased from 32.1% to 34.0% (+1.9)
  • 6th Grade: Increased from 25.1% to 26.6% (+1.5)
  • 7th Grade: Decreased from 25.7% to 19.1% (-6.6)
  • 8th Grade: Decreased from 17.4% to 16.3% (-1.1)

Mathematics:

  • 3rd Grade: Increased from 29.6% to 30.2% (+0.6)
  • 4th Grade: Increased from 33.4% to 33.7% (+0.3)
  • 5th Grade: Increased from 37.7% to 42.6% (+4.9)
  • 6th Grade: Increased from 29.6% to 32.5% (+2.9)
  • 7th Grade: Increased from 25.4% to 29.2% (+3.8)
  • 8th Grade: Increased from 25.7% to 26.6% (+0.9)

Science:

  • 3rd Grade: Decreased from 33.4% to 30.1% (-3.3)
  • 4th Grade: Increased from 30.1% to 39.9% (+9.8)
  • 5th Grade: Decreased from 29.7% to 28.6% (-1.1)
  • 6th Grade: Increased from 22.3% to 31.7% (+9.4)
  • 7th Grade: Decreased from 30.6% to 23.8% (-6.8)
  • 8th Grade: Increased from 23.0% to 26.1% (+3.1)

Social Studies:

  • 6th Grade: Increased from 23.7% to 29.5% (+5.8)
  • 7th Grade: Decreased from 30.0% to 24.7% (-5.3)
  • 8th Grade: Increased from 21.0% to 23.1% (+2.1)

High School Performance:

Biology I: Increased from 31.6% to 33.7% (+2.1)

English I: Decreased from 21.4% to 17.9% (-3.5)

English II: Slight decrease from 36.9% to 36.8% (-0.1)

US History: Dramatic increase from 19.7% to 61.5% (+41.8)

High School Math EOC won’t be available until September.
