On Tuesday night, Senior Awards Night for Campbell County High was held at LaFollette Church of God

Shelley King, a retired educator, presented the Coach Vic King Memorial Scholarship award, which went to David Cole Miller.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It was a packed house Tuesday evening at the LaFollette Church of God as Campbell County High School held its Senior Awards Night. Connect HERE to watch the entire event on demand from WLAF.

Family, friends, and fellow classmates gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2024 senior class.

“This is the next to last occasion you all will have together,” said CCHS CTE Coach Josh Parker.

He told students that he and the rest of the CCHS faculty were “so glad to have been a part of your journey for the last four years.”

The evening was full of awards and scholarship announcements too numerous to list.

Seniors earned more than $1 million dollars in scholarships, according to Parker.

Micah Reynolds presented the Cindi Ann Rogers Memorial Scholarship on Tuesday night in honor of her mother. Maggie Faulkner was the recipient.

Other students were recognized for graduating from CCHS and from Roane State Community College, earning their associate degree by completing Middle College.

Campbell County Rotary Club President Brandon Johnson presents Bella Fleming with the Governor’s Volunteer Award, as well as a Rotary Club Scholarship. Fleming was also the recipient of a $10,000 Coal Creek Watershed Scholarship. Bella will attend UT and become a speech and language pathologist.

The next group of students was recognized for independently completing requirements to earn their associate degree through Roane State.

Perfect attendance awards went to Mathew Hatfield and Bryce Kraft for one year of perfect attendance and Addy Beaty was recognized for two years perfect attendance.

Campbell County High School Principal Ben Foust recognized Seniors who applied for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship and students who are “Tennessee Ready Graduates.”

Vice President of TCAT Jacksboro Tim Smith and Camilla Gambrell handed out awards on Tuesday evening to CCHS seniors dual enrolled both at CCHS and at TCAT.

Tennessee Ready Graduates are distinguished by earning a score 21 or higher on ACT, completing four Early Post Secondary Opportunities, completing two Early post-secondary opportunities, and earning industry credential or completing two post-secondary opportunities and earning a score of military readiness on the ASVAB test.

Seniors who have participated in the Christian Learning Center were also recognized by Center Director Stephanie Lloyd.

She reported that in 2024, 75 students were enrolled in courses at the Learning Academy. 

Twelve of those students completed both Old and New Testament courses and were recognized.  Students on the Jr. Board were also acknowledged.

Seniors who will graduate with Honors and Distinction were recognized for their academic achievements.

Students who received scholarships were recognized, as were the top students in subject areas.

Campbell County High School Principal Foust made closing remarks, telling students he and the faculty were “proud of them and all their accomplishments over the past four years at CCHS.”

All seniors were eligible to apply for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship, a last-dollar scholarship which will pay for two years of tuition at any community college in Tennessee.  This is the fifteenth year that this scholarship has been available to Campbell County students.  I am happy to announce that 255seniors remain eligible for Tennessee Promise.  If you are a Tennessee Promise scholarship recipient, please stand and accept our congratulations.

We are also very proud of our Tennessee Ready Graduates, who have met certain requirements set forth by the State Board of Education.  As the name implies, these students are ready, upon receiving their diplomas, for college and/or entering the workforce. Ready Graduates have earned this distinction by meeting one or more of the following criteria:

  • Earning a score of a 21 or higher on the ACT
  • Completing 4 Early Post Secondary Opportunities
  • Competing 2 Early Post Secondary Opportunities and earning an industry credential
  • Completing 2 Early Post Secondary Opportunities and earning a score of military readiness on the ASVAB test

Tennessee Ready Graduates will wear a green honor cord at graduation.

Seniors who will be graduating WITH HONORS have at least a 3.0 GPA and have met or surpassed certain benchmarks on the ACT.  These students have scored at least an 18 in English, a 21 in Reading, a 22 in Math, and a 24 in Science.  These students will wear a silver honor cord at graduation.

We also have seniors who will graduate WITH DISTINCTION.  Those qualifications include a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, as well as having met at least one of the following criteria:  12 hours of earned postsecondary credit; national industry certification in a career and technical education subject area; attendance at a Tennessee Governor’s School; a 31 composite score on the ACT; or a score of 3 or above on 2 Advanced Placement Exams.  These students will wear an orange honor cord at graduation.
