CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- With a second winter weather event predicted for the weekend, public works and utilities are preparing for it.

Downloading the LaFollette Utilities Board app is one way to prepare for the weather.
Outages can be reported and tracked via the app. It will also notify customers if someone else reports an outage in their area. A comment section allows customers to report other issues such as downed trees across power lines.
LUB phone lines can be busy when there are multiple outages. The app bypasses the phone getting the information to dispatch quicker instead of waiting on hold.
Weather can often bring down power lines and trees. LUB crews will be ready to respond to the weather.
Being prepared is recommended. Have a backup heat source, stock up on groceries and be safe if you are using a generator.
Only use heat sources specifically designed for indoor use, ensure proper ventilation, and install both propane gas and carbon monoxide detectors to prevent hazards like carbon monoxide poisoning.

Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck and his crew will be out in the snow.
The county has 867 roads that comprise 700 miles it will be taking care of. Using 16 plows, county crews will clear the roads putting down a salt and gravel mixture where needed.
When the snow hits, county road crews will start clearing the main roads with snowplows attached to dump trucks then move to secondary roads using pick-up trucks with plows.
Crews have had some trial runs with snow in the higher elevations.
Dilbeck advises people to reduce their travel in snowy conditions and to stay home if it ice comes along with the snow.
Main roads will be cleared first with secondary roads after those.
If trees are across the road call 423-562-3404 during business hours. After business hours people should call 911.
