JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Budget and Finance committee members voted on Monday to ask the county finance department to locate “one-time funds” for the Campbell County Senior Center.
“The senior center is in dire need; they need $9,000,” said Commissioner Beverly Hall, who made the motion and once again brought the issue up. Hall had also spoken about the senior center needing funds at last month’s budget and finance committee meeting and commission workshop.
According to Hall, the Senior Center’s van is broken down, among other financial needs.
“They can’t deliver meals with it; they either need a new van or to repair that one. They need money for meals as well; there is just so much they need,” Hall said.
The motion was unanimously approved for finance to locate the $9,000 for a one-time financial contribution.
Commissioner Rusty Orick asked if the contribution would “carry them over to the budget cycle.”
“It should,” Hall said.
Orick noted that “the budget must not be working for them.”
“No, there has been increases in everything, and it’s really affected them,” Hall said.
The county commission will vote on this budget amendment at next week’s regular county commission meeting. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/11/2024-6AM)
