LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “I grabbed cases of water as I headed out. This heat is a battle in itself let alone the fire,” said La Follette Fire Chief Jimmy Pack. Pack and other La Follette Firefighters headed out to provide mutual aid to the Campbell County Rural Fire Service at a house fire in the 1500 block of Long Hollow Road, right past Long Hollow Church.
Other units, including the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department, battled the fire in 90+ degree weather with a heat indices hovering around a hundred degrees.
It’s believed the fire started before 2pm, and neighbors, not that close to the fire, stated that they could feel the heat a good distance away.
One firefighter described the home as a complete loss. There were no injuries. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/26/2024-2:30PM-PHOTO COURTESY OF JOSHALYN TIPTON)
