LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Need a trusted place to board your dog where they get one on one attention and playtime? Give Bones N Belly Rubs Doggie Daycare and Pet Boarding a call at 423.489.3095! The business is conveniently located three miles from the Old Middlesboro Highway and three miles from Deerfield Resort at 1825 Glade Springs Road, LaFollette.
Bones N Belly Rubs is open Monday through Friday from 9am, to 5pm and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, the business offers a half-price discount on your second and/or third dog. There is also a 10-percent discount offered for boarding of 10 days or more.
The business was started in 2019 is owned and operated by Shannon Chumley, who describes her business as a “small operation” and said she tries not to do over 20 dogs at a time.
“This is better for the dogs, they get more one-on-one time, more play time and more freedom here,” Chumley said.
Opening Bones N Belly Rubs has been a “life-long dream” of hers, and a “family effort.”
Chumley, who is originally from Michigan, has lived in Tennessee for 40 years.
“It started as a family thing – we have always loved animals, and especially dogs,” Chumley said, explaining that her sister Sheila Stiner had been the director of animal control in Monroe, Michigan. After Siler retired, she moved to Tennessee to start the business with Chumley.
“It’s something we both always wanted to do,” Chumley said. The business became a reality in 2019, shortly before her sister passed away. Chumley said that she also could not have started the business “without the love and support” from her brother Clayton Russell, who “worked tirelessly to build this dream before his passing in 2023.”
The business started a little slow due to opening right before the Covid Pandemic hit, but it has grown over the past six years and continues to grow.
Chumley also wants to say a big thank you to all of her clients and customers over the past six years.
“I am so appreciative of all my customers, especially my local, returning customers, they keep me busy,” Chumley said. She is also “excited that her business keeps growing, with new customers each week.”
