JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Five guests are on the agenda to talk at today’s Campbell County Board of Education meeting, and four of those guests are expected to speak on behalf of the possible purchase of Norris Lake Sports Complex. Mark Proffitt, owner of Norris Lake Sports Complex, State Rep. Dennis Powers, Campbell County High School Principal Ben Foust and Co-Athletic Director Ryan Browning will likely be discussing the Norris Lake Sports Complex.
“I’ll be talking about the highlights, and why this is a good purchase for the board of education,” said Randy Heatherly, 3rd District school board member.
“We, Mr. Foust and I and our staff, are in favor of any building on campus or off,” said Campbell High Co-Athletic Director Ryan Browning.
There are four basketball courts, once six, inside the 40,000 square feet facility, room for a 20-25 yard turf football practice field, it’s volleyball ready, could accommodate soccer, a batting cage and possibly tennis, according to Heatherly. The facility sits on a total of eight acres, he said.
“The price tag is $2 million, and we can use the remainder of the $1.7 million dollars allocated in January 2024 to Campbell County High School for a new weight room/multi-use sports complex,” said Heatherly.
“Should the board decide to purchase the sports complex, I will look into a grant for a pedestrian bridge,” said Powers. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/12/2025-6AM)
