Campbell County Director of Schools Jennifer Fields will retire at the end of the year.

JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- The Campbell County Board of Education met Monday afternoon, approving a revised employment contract, along with a budget amendment relating to the transitional position for School Director Jennifer Fields who recently announced her retirement plans. The board also approved advertisement details for an interim director, which will hold the position from January 1, 2026, until a new director can be hired.

According to County Finance Director Eric Pearson at last week’s county budget and finance meeting, the budget amendment is for the director to serve in her current position until the end of the calendar year and then move to the transitional position January 1, 2026, that ends on September 30, 2026.

BOE members approved for a revised contract for director fields after her recent announcement to retire. Also approved on Monday were the parameters for an interim director to serve beginning January 2026 until a new director is hired.

“Employment will end on Oct. 1, 2026, and there will be a lump sum pay out on the current contract that will be funded through April 12, 2027.

According to Pearson, the amendment for this fiscal year, 2026, is $95,000 being added to the budget, $65,000 on salaries and the rest of the funding for retirement insurance and other associated expenses.

This was approved by all board members, with Brandon Johnson abstaining.

At the end of the school board meeting during board members’ comments, Johnson and several other board members thanked Director Fields for her service to the school district.

She thanked them for the opportunity of the last seven and a half years and said she appreciated her staff so much. She also thanked the Board of Education members.
