JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Start of the school year business items like contracts, agreements and grant approvals topped Tuesday’s Board of Education agenda. The board chairman and vice chairman were also elected. Jeffrey Miller returns as chairman of the board, and Jamie Wheeler remains vice chairman.
BOE member Brandon Johnson nominated Miller, who was the only nomination, which passed unanimously. It was the same with Wheeler as the only nomination and passing unanimously.
“I am extremely humbled to receive your all’s support tonight; we have a long year ahead and I look forward to leading us in the right direction,” Miller said.
First up under action items on the agenda, BOE members approved tenure for teacher Daniel Sexton.
Also approved was the 2025-2026 Differential Pay Plan. BOE members Crystal Creekmore, Ryne Cummins, Jamie Wheeler, and chairman Jeffrey Miller voted no on this.
Other items approved included a grant TDOE IDEA Partnership for Systemic Change (K-12) in addition to adding a one-year position Co-teaching and behavior/classroom management coach.
A memorandum of understanding between Campbell County School System and Clinch Powell Education Cooperative Head Start Preschool for Disability services was approved.
A Raptor Technologies Purchase and Subscription Service agreement was approved.
In other business, the BOE also approved a 2026 State Special Education Preschool Grant for $19,089.66. The funding will be utilized for special education assistant at Valley View Elementary Pre-school classroom.
Board members also approved the continued utilization of the Innovative School Models Grant for the 2025-2026 school year. “This grant will allow the district to fulfill school building projects, implement a new HVAC program of study, and upgrade equipment. The district has successfully utilized these funds for the past two years and seeks to continue leveraging this grant for future improvements.”
The volunteer coaching list was approved for the 2025-2026 school year.
The BOE’s October meeting was moved to Monday, October 20th due to the fall break schedule. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/10/2025-6AM)
