JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County School Board met Tuesday evening, approving several bids, including one for an addition to Jacksboro Elementary School.
The Jacksboro Elementary School addition was awarded to the only bidder of GCE Construction. The bid is $2,490,000.
Officials estimate the start date on the addition will occur as “soon as we can get the contract to them,” Fields said.
Also approved was a bid for pest control for 12 schools.
Cooks’s Pest Control submitted a bid of $4,320 for a year.
Bids on fire extinguisher and hood inspections. It was awarded to the lowest bidder of Campbell County Fire Equipment in the amount of $23,031.50.
A bid on commodity processing was awarded to Gold Creek Foods as the bidder on all required items. The bid amount was for $46,513.55.
Also, on Tuesday evening Campbell County BOE members approved the Summer Feeding program. School Director Jennifer Fields announced that the school nutrition Summer Feeding Program starts June 3rd through July 26.
Last year this program handed out 75,000 lunches to Campbell County kids.
“They do not have to be students in our school system. It is anyone under the age of 18 can come and have breakfast and lunch sent home with them,” Fields said.
“What a great program that is and I want to congratulate the director food services (Jamie Gillum). This program is truly a credit to our schools and to our county,” Morgan said.
In other business, BOE members approved to hire Michael Brady Inc. to complete the bidding process for repair of the Jellico gym and storage room in order to meet the deadline for the bleachers to be installed this summer.
